Heathery Breeze Review
Heathery Breeze
If you like your flute playing out in front of the other instruments,
you will appreciate the spare accompaniment on this disc, which allows
Matt Molloy's Bb, Eb and D flutes to shine. Molloy delivers stirring,
deeply textured versions of some of the most beloved tunes in the Irish
repertoire, such as "Moving Cloud," “Drowsy Maggie,” "Silver
Slipper" and "The Hare in the Heather." Listen for the
fine contributions of Donal
Lunny on guitar, bouzouki, and synthesizer, and Michael O'Domhnaill
on guitar.
Shadows on Stone Review
Shadows on Stone
On Shadows on Stone, Matt Molloy offers an energetic mix of varied
material, ranging from traditional tunes to original compositions
(and even a song from China). In between the fast-paced jigs and
reels Molloy has tossed in some slower songs, just to let you catch your breath.
Accompaniment throughout is polished and effective.
